New dates for U-18 Joga Legal

New dates for U-18 Joga Legal

Dear Players,

It has come to turn that the U18's Joga Legal Online Capoeira Solo Competition start date will need to be postponed.

Competitors will now have until November 29th to register for the competition and submit their first round videos.

With this, the 3rd edition of the WCF online competitions we are making many major changes to the way our online competitions will look and function. These changes are being made to increase the competitor's, as well as the spectators, interaction with the online platform and produce an overall more enjoyable experience.

As you may be aware the new online system is being designed to look and feel more like our normal interpersonal competitions that we currently can not conduct because of the ongoing travel and social distancing regulations in place over various countries around the world.

This transformation in the online platform is phenomenal, there is no other system like this on earth and creating this new infrastructure from scratch is an enormous effort by the WCF IT department.

The first of the major changes is the transition from a simple listed format displaying the competitors in one single list on the platform to the "Tournament Bracket" format that will split the competitors into a vs mode just like you would encounter in a traditional live in-person competition.

In this new format the competitors, at the end of the registration period, will be randomly placed into a bracket to compete against another competitor by an automated selection system that involves zero human interaction to complete the process. Thus, giving the division of athletes into the Brackets the most fair and impartial pairings.

The next major change is that even though you will be able to see the list of competitors already registered in your category instantly when they register, nobody will be able to see another competitor's video until registrations are closed, the Drawing process has been completed and competitors have been allocated into their brackets.

The subsequent rounds will not be subject to the automated Drawing system, therefore on the second, third, etc. rounds, you will know the winners of the previous rounds, you will know who you are up against in the next round.

All of this is of course linked to your WCF profile page so other competitors and spectators can see your statistics such as world ranking, previous competition results and general info including which country you represent etc.

Also, at whichever stage of the completion you manage to achieve, your ranking points will automatically be added to your ranking and the world rankings will be automatically updated with those points and results.

This type of online system is revolutionary, the only one of its kind in the world. It's very important to the WCF that before we go live with this new system that we work out all the kinks and problems as much as possible so as to give you, the Capoeira community the smoothest and most enjoyable experience possible.

We thank you for your patience and we hope you will enjoy this new experience.
